This Privacy Policy describes how AIDBIPOC — the Association for Intellectually Disabled Black, Indigenous, and People Oppressed by Color, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization — collects, uses, protects, and handles personal information on this website: database.missingandtrafficked.info (the "Database Site").
This policy applies specifically to the Database Site and governs all data collected through it, including but not limited to the missing persons database, petition forms, tip submission forms, report submission forms, and any other interactive features. It is separate from and in addition to the privacy policy published at aidbipoc.org, which governs our main organizational website.

Petition Signatures — When you sign the Justice for Chalice petition or any petition hosted on this site, we collect:
- First and last name — displayed publicly on the petition signature wall
- City and state — displayed publicly alongside your name
- Country — displayed publicly if outside the United States
- Comment/message — displayed publicly if provided
- Email address — collected for our records only; never displayed publicly, never sold
- Zip/postal code — collected for geographic reporting only; never displayed publicly, never sold
Tip Submissions — When you submit a tip through our tip submission form, we collect:
- Any information you voluntarily provide about a missing persons case
- Contact information if you choose to provide it (optional)
- Date, time, and general location data associated with your submission
Missing Person Reports — When you submit a missing person report, we collect:
- Information about the missing person as provided by you
- Your contact information as the reporting party
- Any supporting documentation you submit
Automatically Collected Data — Like most websites, we automatically collect:
- IP address and browser type (via WordPress and hosting provider logs)
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referring website
- General geographic location (country/region level only)
3. How We Use Your Information
- Petition data: To display your public signature on the petition, and to report aggregate signature counts to law enforcement agencies and the public as part of our advocacy efforts.
- Email addresses: To contact you about significant case updates if you have signed a petition. We do not send marketing emails. You may unsubscribe at any time.
- Tip submissions: All credible tips are reviewed and may be forwarded to appropriate law enforcement agencies. We do not share your identity as a tipster without your consent unless required by law.
- Missing person reports: To add cases to our public database and to coordinate with law enforcement, advocates, and family members.
- Aggregate data: To produce anonymized statistics about petition reach, geographic distribution of support, and advocacy impact for reporting purposes.
4. What We Will Never Do With Your Data
- Sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party — ever.
- Display your email address, zip code, or full mailing address publicly.
- Use your information for commercial marketing or advertising purposes.
- Share your identity as a tip submitter without your explicit consent, except as required by law.
- Use your data in any way inconsistent with our 501(c)(3) nonprofit mission.
5. Information Shared With Third Parties
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Law enforcement: Credible tips and relevant case information may be forwarded to local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies in connection with active missing persons investigations.
- Hosting and technical services: Our website is hosted on servers provided by Namecheap. Your data may pass through their systems as part of normal website operation. We do not control Namecheap's data practices — please review their privacy policy at namecheap.com.
- WordPress plugins: We use WPForms to process petition and report submissions. Form data is stored in our WordPress database on our own server.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person.
6. Missing Persons — Public Case Profiles
Case profiles on this database are created for the purpose of raising public awareness about missing persons. Information published in case profiles is drawn from:
- Official law enforcement reports and NamUs records
- Information provided by families and authorized advocates
- Publicly available records and media coverage
If you are a family member of a person profiled on this database and wish to request correction, addition, or removal of information, please contact us at theresa@aidbipoc.org. We take all such requests seriously and will respond within 5 business days.
7. Cookies & Tracking
This site uses standard WordPress cookies for basic site functionality (session management, security). We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If this changes, this policy will be updated and visitors will be notified.
8. Data Retention
- Petition signatures: Retained indefinitely as part of the public advocacy record unless you request removal.
- Tip submissions: Retained for a minimum of 3 years to support ongoing investigations, then reviewed for deletion.
- Server logs: Typically retained for 30–90 days per our hosting provider's standard policy.
- Email communications: Retained as long as operationally necessary.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction: Request that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Right to deletion: Request that your personal data be deleted from our systems. Note: publicly displayed petition signatures may be removed upon request, but we cannot guarantee removal from archived copies held by third parties.
- Right to opt-out: Unsubscribe from any email communications at any time by emailing theresa@aidbipoc.org with subject line "Unsubscribe."
- California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to opt-out of sale (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
10. Children's Privacy
This site contains case profiles of missing minors for the purpose of public safety awareness. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 through our interactive forms. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us immediately at theresa@aidbipoc.org.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. These measures include SSL encryption on all data transmissions, password-protected administrative access, and regular security monitoring. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Links to Other Websites
This site may contain links to external websites including NamUs, FBI Tips, law enforcement agencies, and other advocacy organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before submitting any personal information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of this website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via a notice on the site.
